Game crashing Version 2.31 Patch 2

I ended up uninstalling the game and re-installing. Now I can play, but have to start all over again with mouse and joystick settings. This really sucks. Took me a long time to get that all set up. Hope this does not happen again. Not real happy about this.

Backup your "Settings" folder, next time you'll be able to copy it and install it with out having the hassle of re-doing everything.

same thing again,,, tried to go strait to the late war arena,, got booted off 3 times,,  went to the TA,,  then  to late war and got right in,, no other issues!

Crashed right away when going into MA 3 times.  Came here, looked for info, checked textures (1024) nothing was different, made no changes.  Tried again and played for a couple hours with no issue.  It did give me an AH popup as soon as I got into the MA.  Something about a system file  (thats helpful huh?)  but couldn't find anything that was effected by it.

it's not just online, it crashes while on offline practice too

I did it and i have NO CLUE how to fix it....... so uhhhh.... Put ya Big Boy Pants on and deal with it!!!!!!!

Constant crashes for me.

No problems getting into other arenas, just LWMA.  I deleted the map, let it re-download and viola, success.  No fuss no muss.  *shrug*

I spent 8 years as the Beta Test lead for the now closed flight sim Fighter Ace.
Thru all the versions of the game I was involved in 1.5 thru 4.0 we never released a build or patch that crashed the players client like this one does.
There were release candidates that were broken, but we always caught them.

Releasing one to the public was our worst fear, so yes I do have an opinion about it, an earned one at that.

I found the same solution.
Save all your controller settings somewhere safe,
uninstall the game,
download the entire game and re-install.

Am just hoping now that when the hi-res stuff finishes downloading it does not crash again LOL.

We have consolidated all the threads about the crash issue into one thread.

This problem is not something players can address by changing things in their settings, or downloading and installing a new copy of the game.

I'm sorry, but this issue was not in the late war arena only for many of us and that is a fact.
I was unable to enter any arena on-line.
I was able to play off-line only.
This was fixed immediately upon uninstalling and reinstalling the game which tells me the update corrupted a game file.
Perhaps the corruption was due to a server issue, but it did hose the game in my case.
After reinstalling the game I played in the MA for several hours last night with no problems.

I also tested first by installing a copy of the game on my laptop. ( this machine never had AHII installed before )
Set laptop next to gaming machine.
Started game on gaming machine, it crashed upon loading any on-line arena.
Started game with fresh install on laptop, game played fine.

This tells me we may be dealing with more than 1 issue at the same time, but the update did definitely screw something up in the game on my machine.

After uninstall and new reinstall, gaming machine works fine.

Not trying to be negative or argue with anyone, just trying to help solve the problem quickly and completely

There very well could be multiple issues.  We are not ruling that out.

Corruption can occur whenever there is an abnormal termination of any Windows application.  That is certainly possible.

I crashed the first time I logged in right after the update, but logged in and flew in right after in the afternoon and then evening again and no problems.

For once technology is not fighting me!

Boy a problem like this, that they couldn't anticipate, really brings out the pudding heads in the player base.
HiTech Creations has been in this business for awhile and I for one, trust their judgement.
I really needed a laugh today and some of you peanuts really helped. Thanks.
HTC, do your thing, I know you'll get it sorted out as soon as you can.
