Custom skins for historical staged missions
« on: August 15, 2013, 06:17:29 AM »
I'm not sure if this topic was already posted but here it goes:

Is it possible for custom skins to be loaded into the staged mission editor in the same way the ME loads terrains? That way it would be possible to make historical staged missions complete with the accurate paint schemes of the planes involved instead of the default ones.

I THINK in can be done, but I'm not sure.

:aok :aok  If it could be done that would be sweet.  As I recall, the last that I heard that the default skin would have to be loaded with the terrain itself.  If and/ or when such a feature could be done through the arena setup in staged missions, it would be awesome for Special Events and the Axis versus Allies.

Is the reason this cannot be an automatic part of the spawn process that you cannot be sure everyone has that skin downloaded? If accepting a slot in the mission changes your plane back to the default each time when the mission launches. Then I would venture not having the targeted skin downloaded is close to the issue. But, still programmatically, the lack of the target skin not being available for the player would be an automatic substitution of the default skin.

This is too simple. Must be more to it from Hitech's side.

Odd, I thought it used to be possible to set skin availability in the terrain.
