Before I get well and truly flamed on this I would like to say back when this was originally raised when the CT 1st became active I came down firmly on the side of the "Fluid Front" approach nothing has changed to alter my views and I still don't consider field capture the ideal solution but..... It is fairly obvious that the MA will (Quite rightly) always drive HT's development and field capture strat suits that type of environment. This means that something as revolutionary as the "Fluid Front" will probably never become a reality.
I don't agree with the closing of fields as an option because ultimately that just makes people have to fly further to find a fight. The only logical solution (IMO) is to bring the dreaded field capture into the CT. As suggested in other posts I think disabling the goon would be a good move and perhaps increase the number of troops it takes to capture a field. Both of these points would help to slow any advance and making at least 2 M3's etc required would stop the single handed field capture. (As would upgrading the maps to include Railroads etc). Anyway I'm not going to provide a detailed argument for bringing in field capture as it really is not the ideal solution but basically it's all we got at the moment.
Rank.... I think this is a real issue, It doesn't bother me particularly (400 and something in the MA rankings I think). But I believe there are a lot of players in the MA to consider Rank to be very important and would probably venture into the MA just to get into the top 10 (On current numbers they would only need to drop in one night a week).
Finally.... I think it's fair to say most of us wanted a "Historical arena" What we got was a "Combat Theater". I can't really see HTC putting any effort into promoting it (But also I don't see them hindering it's progress either). Who "Owns" it? us or HTC? Who owns the current map? Will it ever be upgraded to 1.08? I think it really is about time those of us what want a CT (HA)? start to control the environment a bit more. (Assuming HTC are happy with that). It's pointless upgrading the map to include trains etc if the fields can't be captured (Might as well just let them rebuild as they do now). Perhaps we could organise a CT Corps who would have much the same powers over the CT as the Scenario Corps do over the SEA. I'd be happy to join. I'm not much good at anything (I really suck with the terrain editor) but there must be something we can do to create some interest outside of the dozen or so faithfuls who have perservered with it upto now.
