On returning from a bomber escort mission the Thunderbolts of the 56th Fighter Group drop down to the deck and strafe rows of parked aircraft at Gutersloh airfield. Weak anti-aircraft fire is powerless to bring down any of the attackers, and one after another the gun pits fall silent.

67 Vals and 110 Zeros were launched against the Island of Guadalcanal. The Cactus Air
Force sprang into action launching elements of Army P-38s, P-39s, P-40s and Marine F4Fs,
and now Marine F4Us from VMF-124 that were delivered in February
Sept 25 Molsman Strike at Cologne
On May 30th of 1942 the first 1000 bomber plane raid named "Operation Millennium" inundated the Rhine River city of Cologne with devastation. Early the next morning Air Marshall A. T. Harris sent low level Mosquitoes to strike again.
