Sad Day!
« on: September 11, 2013, 05:00:57 PM »
:airplane:  Today is a sober one for many Americans, as everyone remembers those two aircraft flown into the world trade towers! God rest all those souls who were murdered for a idiots dream of ruling the world and destroying the United States in the process!
I know everyone remembers 2 days in their lives, if old enough, the day JFK was murdered and the tragic happenings on 9-11-2001! I carry, to this day, and always will, a small piece of paper, part of one of the thousands of pieces of paper which came raining down that day on 9-11 when the first tower collapsed. It doesn't say much, something about a planned birthday party for a 9 year old, gender unknown, with no title or heading on who or what generated the message, just a reminder of how quickly ones life can be forever changed!
On JFK's death, I was on a dual instrument cross-country flight in a Beech Baron, model 58, and when we landed at Gainsville airport, so the student could see his daughter for a few minutes and we heard the reports. A sad, sad day in American history!
On 9-11, I was helping a friend of mine, replace the carpet in his "B" model baron, we had finished here in Chattanooga's Lovell field, called ground for taxi instructions, cleared to the active and while we were taxiing, ground called and said to return to the hangar at once. When questioned, ground would only say that the FAA had grounded all aircraft! All sorts of things run through your mind at that time, wondering what has happened, and when we returned to Krystal Aviation, we of course learned the dreaded truth of the reasoning behind the grounding of all aircraft.
God rest all those souls who gave their lives at Shanksville, Pa, fighting back as every American would under the same circumstances.
This is the greatest country in the world, and a lot of American lives were given in defense of our liberty and way of life! Next time you hear someone "knock" the U.S., bust them right between this eyes and say this is from ET!

Yes, it is sad to think of those who died on 9/11.  What is even worse is that we lost some of that “liberty” you speak of, and moved closer to becoming a corporate police state, because of what happened on that day.

Went back to my HS for a reunion, one of the lads who'd been there after me was killed on 9/11.

A teacher who'd helped most of my generation and that of the lad who followed reminded us:

They told me, Heraclitus, they told me you were dead,
They brought me bitter news to hear and bitter tears to shed.
I wept as I remember'd how often you and I
Had tired the sun with talking and sent him down the sky.

And now that thou art lying, my dear old Carian guest,
A handful of grey ashes, long, long ago at rest,
Still are thy pleasant voices, thy nightingales, awake;
For Death, he taketh all away, but them he cannot take.
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

Agree.  It's comforting to see that not everyone has converted to the church of nine-eleventology
If I had a gun with 3 bullets and I was locked in a room with Bin Laden, Hitler, Saddam and Zipp...  I would shoot Zipp 3 times.

I ran down 53 flights of stairs that day.  I worked for the Mayors Office City of New York.  My office was in the north tower.

9-11-01 I was Working a Paramedic Unit in Buck's Pa 2 hrs from Both NYC Plane Attacks and DC attack and almost 6 hrs from the PA Attack.... Next thing I know the Team I was on was Put on Alert and then we were headed North Spent 2 weeks at Ground Zero and we did the best we Could do but the Hardest of those 2 week's was what Followed was Attending Our Brother's Last Call and Ride on their Respected Engine's, Ladder's or Rescue Unit's Cause that was their Last Run. Sad Part is that when this all took Place People were happy for the First Responder's did and all along with the Military Personal ,,,,now to me those days are long and gone and we are back to the daily grind ashame it takes a disaster to get everyone back together.....

<Salute> to all Lost on 9/11 and Our Military that lost their Live's each time they go to Protect our Freedom

Being a youngster on the other side of the world, I saw a differant side of it.

I had just finished school. Ran ahead of my friends to get home before them (We all lived on the same street). When I went into the kitchen, my father always had the TV on. I walked in, threw down my school bag and stopped dead as all I saw was the north tower in flames. I ran out as my friends were passing and shouted "Guys, America has been attacked!"

They laughed.

I ran back in and continued watching, seeing the second plane hit, seeing the smoke and fire, hearing the stunned silence of the reporters as what was happening gradually sunk in. Then my phone rang. It was my friend and he had just got in.

"Holy ****"

That was all he said. That was all he could say. That was all anyone could say. What more can you say when you are on the other side of the world?

<S> to the fallen and to the heros who tried to save as many people as they could that day, be they firefighters, police, ambulance and hospital workers or just civilians. All heros. Especially those who never made it home that night to see their loved ones.

<S> to one and all. 9/11. A date that will live in infamy.
seeds have been laid...but they arent trees we're growing. we're growing organic grenades!- 321BAR
I'd have a better chance in running into a Dodo Bird in the middle of rush hour, walking down the I-5 with two hookers in tow before I see a useful post from glock89- Ack-Ack

What we felt that day may have given us a glimpse of the day Perl Harbor was attacked.  No history book or movie can match living through tragic events like these.

:noid  I could care less about the terms coined by the press; however, you are an utter and complete phallus if you think this was some sort of national conspiracy. Your sorry and shameful BBS behavior has become intolerable at last big tough guy. Your incessant banging on your chest and never ending diatribe of how cool and l33t you are taking on the hordes was tiring years ago, but you finally made the ignore list. Wish the ignore list made your cpid disappear so I don't have to see where you will be spewing your crap in every thread that gets posted. If the sacrifice people make in this country is not up to your nationalist views then get the f out. I put my life on the line so you have the right to spew your caca, but I don't have to read it anymore. Just be thankful others are still willing to do so for the sake of your family twerp. Some people will always be feminine hygiene products, so you're in good company with them. We all know how little you care for your fellow man Mr. bad adz leg breaking, bad crayon drawn criminal. Now crawl back into your hole and console yourself with how brave you are in cartoon land and keep cutting those horribly tough papers with your cheap knock off sword thinking you in any small way know anything about the ways of warriors. If you did, you would not be the person you were or are today clown. You might also know that there are better swords to choose from which far surpassed the best Japan ever produced, not just in steel production, but by design as well.
Used to fly as Halo46, GRHalo, Hobo and Punk at the end.
