Verizon argues it should be able to block websites
« on: September 09, 2013, 07:21:59 PM »
Will this gain any traction? What will it mean for all subscribers in the US to Verizon's competitors if the court sides with Verizon?

IDG News Service - Verizon Communications should be able to block its broadband customers from going to websites that refuse to pay the provider to deliver their traffic, a lawyer for Verizon told an appeals court Monday.

It would mean that verizon will go out of business as long as there are other providers that dont do that.

Yup this. Most other providers are going the opposite way, working to help host CDN's to give customers a better broadband experience.

It is Verizon's way to eliminate competition (i.e. Netflix and Youtube to a degree) with their television service.

They will probably be successful at it.
