Burning tanks
« on: September 01, 2013, 04:38:39 PM »
In real war a gv doesnt blow up and disappea :bheadr. Why should it in MA.  Tanks on the battle field would burn for couple days.

Wouldn't it work to have a dead tank burn on the battle field for 3-8 minutes.  (I am thinking 4) after the tanks has been destroyed.

I guess I would see it look a little more warish.

Just even have it smoke like the hangars. The gv war never looked surgical.  It would ad dimesion of the real feel to a gv war.

Because if the tank wreckage stayed the battlefield would look like this after about 30 seconds.

Its a good idea but reality smacks it in the face.

First, the pic above is very true. Secondly the lag it could possibly create would be crazy. Lastly it could possibly screw over FPS for a lot of folks out on the battlefield.

Once again, it sounds like a cool idea but it just wont work.

It would be nice to have that when you are spawning into a camped spawn... I believe that picture would be the Desert Storm. Only reason looked like that is because it was hit at night from smartbomb or cluster bombs. THis appears to be a tank park area. Not battlefield, it would be spread out over a good size area. :old:

That's not necessarily the case. Most spawns are somewhat tight, you spawn within a given area. Most GVers know where the spawns are, and how to surround the enemy at their own spawn. So you would just have tank on tank on tank, stacked like blocks, in some cases.  I have spawned in the same spot before over and over, and spawned in radically different sections of this area. I am unsure if this is based on the maps, (because one was tight re-spawning on one map and loose re-spawning on another).

But for those with lower end computers, it would make it more laggy.

I wonder if HTC could make the 'graveyard/boneyard' optional?   Would it be something you could drive through? (since you can drive through friendly and enemy tanks) Or, would it be like our infamous titanium trees?  Where you could hide behind the 'corpse/skeleton' of a fallen friendly or enemy tank and use them as cover for 1-2 shots before it 'goes away' or whatever.

Just a few thoughts.

Then the idea would have the additional benefit of becoming an obstacle to spawn campers.

So you would just have tank on tank on tank, stacked like blocks, in some cases...

But for those with lower end computers, it would make it more laggy...

They could program a limit on how many would wreckages would be present at any one time.

Good idea, but the lag issue is a big problem.

I would seem realistic..... but say you are killed at the spawn, you would respawn and see your own burning tank burning next to you. If the tank you are killed in is burning for 4 minutes then you should not be able to respawn a new tank for 4 minutes and that is just a waist of time.         :huh
