What's so special about those guns to justify such a price tag? 
For starters,the build quality.These can be used and passed down several generations. That grade of gun is usually built and finished by one person.After the rough machining of the receivers and barrel block,the rest is hand fitted. A lot of the cost is in the wood,usually very high grade Italian Walnut,and a big chunk is engraving.Scroll work,game scenes,etc. At that level you basically have a work of art that you can take into the field and hunt with. The engraver usually signs each receiver. My Perazzi MS80 has gold border work by Angelo Bee and it's one of a kind. He told me that he doesn't duplicate patterns. All this is very labor intensive,which when added to the already high price of a high grade firearm,you wind up with a very high dollar,investment grade gun.
