Film Viewr: Can't get sound in video + head position
« on: September 09, 2013, 10:04:59 AM »
I have recorded the latest BoB scenario video, but when I convert it to avi I get no sound.

I tried several codecs same result.

(a) What can I do to resolve this issue, what codec select?

Also view direction is recorded, the head position remains default. The problem is that in many planes the default rear direction view are quite bad without setting up the head location with F10.

(b) Is there any way to make film viewer to use head position?

Recording to AVI,in the film viewer, does result in no sound in the AVI.  It is a limitation of the current film viewer.

I usually just set my sound recorder software to record the sound independent of the AVI output of the film viewer and then build them together in my editor.

I assume you used the "Use Recorded View" option, but are saying it does not use the custom saved views?  If so, then yes, you are correct.  The current version does not use the custom, saved, views from the game.

Artik, if you use an external program like FRAPS or the like, you can record from your film viewer as it plays back directly and it will record all sounds that play in the film viewer with the footage.

Many people use that method. Prepare your playback, play it, and hit the hot-key on FRAPS (or whatever you use), then edit THAT footage instead of using the AVI export in the film viewer itself.

One of the downsides to Fraps is if there is a stutter in the recording playback, then it will be part of the Fraps file.  Whereas exported AVI's are always butter smooth in playback.

Tradeoffs.

Right now, the film viewer cannot properly create an AVI over 2GB in length.
