I have a feeling that to be considered a "Vet" amongs this mash-up of pilots, one needs to go through a few "trials".....

1. you must have a story from in-game which only a  hand full of other players claim to have experienced, and that many others will claim knowledge of..
  • Sheep Knowledge, they are watching.
  • Shooting Santa Down!??
  • etc

2. You no longer care about "earning perks, so I can fly that xxxxx plane!"
3. You've watched more documentaries on WWII on a Cathode-Ray Tube television than you have from youtube....
4. You joined AH2 because of a History Channel advertisement
5. From what I've read on the forum's, you also must be "trolled" or "flamed" on the forum for one reason or another, usually because you're more awesome than that other guy....

I've got a LONG ways to go to be in the same class as some of these ol'  :old: pilots...  :neener:

Either way, so far it's a good community. I'm just a new player all wide-eyed and bushy tailed I suppose...

Looking up to the old grizzled veterans and the crazy tale tails they tell....  :noid
I remember when the sheep were taken out, and hysteria over santa. I  also remeber when there was a giant token floating in AH for a football team :)

Officially 13 years and 13 days is how long it takes to become a vet.

Then you get presented with a dog much like the one pictured.

A Veteran (or a retired VET) could be described as playing warbirds and that game on AOL (and cant remember the name of it) waiting on Aces High to come out. Could have been around so long that some of the player he knew is gone now. Attended the First 2 conventions and has the awesome black jacket to show for it. (I still wear it to this day) There are a few out there. May return to the game someday. I dont have a game machine anymore so would have to build a new one and get new controls.

You aren't a vet unless you had to hide a $300.00 phone bill from your wife during the early days of AirWarrior and now your are still playing here.

Air Warrior was on more than AOL (spit), though playing it on Genie and spending enough a year to make a right size decent car payment was before I discovered the game (dammit - but not before Muzzy did, apparently). A veteran could well be the proverbial AW player who subscribed to the Bigweek news reader and made fun of people on AOL. ;)  :D

Some would say, unless you had a tail number .... (making me and a lot of folk unqualified.)
