This Jagdpanther was the tank of Major Sattler, of s.H.Pz.Jg.Abt 559. On September 8th 1944 Sattler was commanding seven tank destroyers including at least three Jagdpanthers in the defense of Hechtel near the Belgian/Dutch border. During the battle he was spotted by a Welsh Guards' Cromwell commanded by Lieutenant W. Griffiths. Griffiths let the Jagdpanther advance past him before opening fire. His gunner put four rounds into Sattler's engine compartment which started a fire. As Sattler baled out he was knocked unconscious, but later managed to evade capture and rejoin his unit. His Jagdpanther was recovered by British engineers and returned to the UK where it can be seen today in the Imperial War Museum in London.
