LTV spawns
« on: September 27, 2013, 07:17:37 AM »
IMO inasmuch as LTVs are able to travel on both land and water. In addition to being able to spawn on land. Or instead of being able to spawn on land. In either case LTVs should be able to spawn wherever PTs can spawn

I like the idea of being able to spawn LVTs at PT spawns.  I'm not quite sure how you would think it could resupply a CV group though  :headscratch:

Yeah I'm not sure what would be the best way, nor if it was possible in RLF, but the CV's had to be supplied somehow. Right now if the CV is damaged you have to wait for it to repair itself, which I assume is 1 hour. Tried landing a goon on one and was successful, but the supplies would not take. Just seems that there should be some way of resupplying it though. :D

Now that I think about it, the LVT's took troops ashore and supplies, and brought the wounded back out to the ships, so they had to have had someway of offloading from the LVT's to the ships.

All that having been said, it may not be practical in the game here.

Im thinking we have several maps that have PT spawns near other bases. Would provide for an amphibious assault and landing

Please keep in mind that the LVT is not an open water vessel. It was meant to ferry, not journey. While the PT boat can move at 40+ knots, the LVT can crawl along at a turtles pace. It was not meant for open water, I think htc can do better with the PT boats though.

I vote no.

This is true.  But for recently captured bases along enemy shores we have no user controllable supply convoys. LTVs were indeed used to ferry supplies from ship to shore in absence of a usable port. And we do have several maps with a wealth of spawns near opposing shorelines

Good point.  Being able to spawn in an army of LVT's would be nice as well.  Better yet once the LVT with the Stuart M3 turret option is added.   :aok

In the case of resupplying though, the argument of having to use the sky train is more historically accurate.   ;)
