BF4 countdown
« on: October 22, 2013, 11:17:26 AM »
7 days until release. The Beta showed, I believe, the best BF ever is coming.

NOT a flight game and certainly not a replacement for something like AH. But I was so impressed with the game beta I bought a new video card for it. I think its going to be the best FPS ever.

I liked BF1942 a lot, but as it completely fell out of maintenance, I ended up not being able to play it anymore.  I'm not as keen on modern stuff except for things like Quake (and loved Marathon way back when).  I hate how aircraft have been done in the Battlefield series so far -- they have been very poorly done, ruin game play, and are annoying to no end.  In BF1942, there were some maps that didn't have aircraft or where their influence was minimized thanks to lots of AA available.  Maybe BF4 will have a better implementation, but as I see screen shots full of helicopters, I am skeptical.

i have managed to not waste any money on any of that craptastic series in spite of my inclinations...and i'm very thankful to the higher powers for helping me continue down that path.

But BF1942 was a lot of fun!  It's just that you couldn't touch aircraft in it, lest you be contaminated by the horribleness of them.  :aok

BF4 beta was fun, it didn't have hackers everywhere. Yet.

I'm sure it won't take long untill BF4 is just as ruined as BF3 is.

True.  BF1942 reminded me of a mixture of Quake and sandbox toy soldiers, which is why I loved it.  :aok

I had to stop playing it when Punkbuster started causing lockups.
