If you have an X45 why not just use the throttle from that?   I saw you have an x45 for sale,I assume because it has no twist rudder you are using the Logitech stick so just plug in the X45 throttle and set it up.

PS: you can even use the X45 JS and program the buttons instead of using a KB.

The throttle plugs into the body of the joystick. It doesn't have USB plug on it. IF there is some at to get a adapter I would love it. >

You wouldn't be the first one to use more than one joystick at the same time. I have the stick part of my HotasX behind the screen. One fellow had a CH gameport throttle connected to a plastic food box containing the innards of the CH stick. You can even tear the stick apart and build an entirely different housing around the buttons and pots for a personalized controller.

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

Why not? If you take the innards out of a stick, the computer will still see it as the stick it used to be. Although you may have a webcam looking at you and your desk, the computer can't see how your gear look like. A stick is just a couple of potentiometres and a bunch of buttons. A hat is actually four buttons which can be separated for single button use on a control box. An 8 way hat is still only four buttons, but the circuitry will see two button combinations as the in-between directions. Thus, in a Frankenstein box placing the 8-way hat buttons as a cross might be a viable choice.

Radio shack use to have an assortment of project boxes for just such a mod.  Not sure they still do but worth a google.  You might even google the mod.  Someone may have already done it like Bizman on the X

I haven't done the mod, because the stick is still totally intact. But a friend had his stick innards in a tiny box for connecting purposes only. 68Valu has made several control boxes like this.

I built my own throttle. Used it non-stop for three years, only calibrated it once and have had to do no maintenance. Buying stuff is overrated  :old:

Well it's more inspiration to others than a kit. It was made from an old hard drive, some plastic, some lego gears, a bit of alloy plate and a pool ball keyring, but you could do similar with all sorts of old junk.

I took an old Logitech that was fubared and removed the gimble then reatched the handle so I could use all the buttons on it. I use this as a controller to do things like open the map, zoom the map, switch gun position etc.

Just plug the X45 in,disable the pitch and roll by setting to "none" then program how you like and use the Logitech as you main flight stick and the X45 as a game controller!

You will find that you only need the KB to text for the most part!

Ah will see IIRC up to 16 different controllers or devices!
