I was with Sprint for 13 years and got tired of poor customer service and dropped calls.   Been with Verizon for almost three years and never have had a dropped call.    AT&T sucks up here and refuse to give them a penny.

I must be the only guy in the world that just wants a plain old phone. No pictures, text plans, bluetooth, wifi, data plans, internet crap.

That's what I have.  The phone, Straight Talk, cost $45.  Monthly service costs $30 for 1,000 minutes which I've never exceeded.
