YAK-7B - Lydia Litvyak was the first woman to shoot down an enemy aircraft, the first woman to earn the title fighter ace and the highest ranking female ace in history with 12 victories. Litvyak flew her first combat sorties in summer of 1942 and joined the men of 437 IAP at Stalingrad in September. She served with 9 GvIAP from October 42 till January 1943. After the battle for Stalingrad ended, she fought on the Southern front until her death on August 1st 1943. She was posthumously awarded the HSU May 6th 1990.
HighTone shot down 1 Bf 109F-4 piloted by FBGrit of the Freebirds, an He 111H piloted by Eeyore of the 412th FNVG and a He 111H piloted by DH367th of the 367th Dynamite Gang. Hightone was shot down and killed by a He 111H piloted by SE8 of the 367th Dynamite Gang.
The Frame 1 Axis Ace was TheBug of III/JG 11 Sonderstaffel.
Bf 109G-2 – Feldwebel Kurt Ebener was part of the Pitomnik Defense squadron and was the most successful pilot during the defense. Ebener shot down 35 aircraft at Pitomnik and brought his total to 52 victories. Ebener was transferred west, promoted and awarded the Knights Cross. Ebener fought at the Normandy invasion front where he was shot down near Paris, seriously wounded and captured in August, 1944. Kurt Ebener passed away May 7th, 1975.
