i had to give you some poop. it took some big testicles to do the job you had in the corps. 
The jiob was 90% boredom and 7% training and 3% reality. The second week into training down at NAS Memphis we had a KC130 loaded with 12000 pounds of remaining fuel come in with no hydraulics and we were grabbed from the school and assisted the Naval Crash crew that was stationed there to foam down the runway. Then we stood by for any help they needed after. (For those who don't know the KC130 is an in flight refuel-er)
My second real bad one was at Team Spirit 89 in Pusan South Korea, in a 41 hour span we had a CH47 then a CH53 Sea Stallion go down. The 47 had 27 souls on board and we were able to save 19. The CH53 went down with 22 souls on board and we were able to save 11. The worst part is I was senior crash fire personal at the 53 and I had to decide who got on the Med Evac first. For a 19 year o;ld kid that is the roughest decision to make. I still question at time if I did the right thing and chose the right people but i also look at the fact that my crew saved 11 Marines and they survived.
In the time those 2 birds went down I had been up for 22 hours already, when that bird went down I was up for another 21. I was physically pulled from the crash site by my NCOIC and actually given a tranquilizer just so I would get some sleep.
I miss the guys I was stationed with and they will always remain brothers to me.
