Minotaur 1 Rocket Launch
« on: November 19, 2013, 10:26:14 PM »
Hope you got to see it. Launched at 8:15 Eastern from Virginia.
A record 29 Satellites as payload, by USAF.
Was an awesome sight to see. Orange dot blazing across as it moved upward and right to left
from my location. Saw the first stage burnout and fall away and 2nd stage ignition.
We saw it in South Jersey within 8 seconds of liftoff. What's truly amazing was the speed of it.

Here's the story.

Why is it That I never hear about these things (rocket launches, eclipses, meteor showers, etc.) before they happen?  :cry :bhead

When the game is over, the Kings and Pawns all go into the same box.

Yep. It was supposed to be visible from North Central WV.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Good to see these expensive rockets being used for peaceful purposes, and not to blow up millions of people.

Get off of the game on occasion, then read other stuff besides BBS :neener:

No, actually you can read Space.com, NASA website (or TV Channel), SLOOH.com or other site.
Plenty of info on launches and other Space related things to watch for :aok
Lots of stuff going on right now (Comet, Meteor Showers, etc.)
On the 28th, the Comet ISON will put on quite a show, as it races towards the Sun :aok

Seen it last night from Jersey shore. People as far away as Connecticut had no problem seeing the Rocket as the skies were mostly clear. The Virginia Launch facility is expected to launch many more so stay tuned.
You could see the various stages go off with the naked eye but my buddy used binoculars for a better view.

Space.com had the live feed from the launch pad.  :rock

You act as if this has happened once before in the history of mankind.

Was more pondering the massive costs incurred by building these ICBMs, and that finally they get to be used for something productive rather than destructive. Win!

Somehow in all my updates about comet ISON I managed to miss this. Bailey it was prefect weather. I saw the last one, I  want to say it was in September, from my front steps on a similarly clear night. If a tree wasn't in the way I could have followed it from the horizon.
