I up from capped fields all the time.  Avoiding the vulch and getting up enough to kill a couple is hard.  Hard = fun.   Upping 3-4 times in a vulch, killing a couple guys and getting whacked everytime is way more satisfying than buzzing around with E picking 6-8 guys and landing safely (in my opinion).  If its completely impossible to get up, then come in with alt and scatter them.  I'm just happy to find folks to point my plane at and go pewpewpew.

 :aok

That's what I'm talking about...very seldom do you find me in the stratosphere (unless hunting pickers  :noid ) I have lots of fun upping at capped fields swatting down hoarders...getting vulched or swarmed is just a hazard...If you don't think its fair just HO more  :rofl

I can't help but think if about 10% of the people who whine about hording were to up at the same time the giant red darbar first appears taking off to oppose it, it wouldn't be an unopposed horde, it would be a fight.

Last night we were horded. Fighters were down so I upped an A20 on 25% fuel.  Well, several of them.  Had a great time.  That A20 catches a lot of people sleeping.

You would have had turkeys to shoot that's the only difference. It makes little difference if it's 1 vs 10 or 3 vs 10.

And those same 10% also whine about not being able to find a fight.

1:3 odds when you've got alt on the heavy bandits?  That's a buffet.

I'm not talking about once they're over the field or even in the friendly dar.  I mean the first few minutes when the giant red bardar first shows when they take off.

If you think when the bishops do it is gawd aweful horrible just hide behind a bush and see when the rooks and knights do it.

I'd like to see you eat on that buffet Wiley. 3 vs 10 can and often means that 5 of them are chasing you while the rest 5 are tangling with your 2 remaining friends. Basically in this kind of situation you need to have a very high performing plane, keep your alt advantage and b&z the enemy untill a higher enemy comes over and forces you to either commit and get raped or escape.

I love those big red blobs! Especially bish blobs since they literally kill themselves!  :lol :devil

Instead of flying away from these "hordes" why don't you all up and intercept it together? A lot of people see large red dar bars like this and think "I don't want to fight that." and they go where there are no red cons. Then they complain about their base being horded. I don't get it. You chose to let it get horded! I'm not complaining because it means more red planes for me to fight.  :D :joystick:

Another way is just to hover 2000ft over the top of the herd.  If 38's wait and see how many proxies you get from them compressing in a dive.

I was once in a Wirbel on a field attacked by that V Squad...  It was raining P51s that day.

Is a P47D-11 a very high performing plane?  How about an F4U-1?

Of course the three of you have to keep it fast, you have to BnZ, and a higher plane is a threat.  If the 3 of you don't at least somewhat work together, it's not going to go well either.  If you've kept your E though, you can work that higher plane if and when he shows up.

Committing in ANY crowd is going to get you killed more often than not.  For those planes to engage you effectively though, they're going to have to drop their ords.  That slows the horde somewhat, giving your side more time for the latecomers to grab.

perk the training wheel planes!  I would much rather fight 5 p47's than 5 spit16's, especially in a mass of red like that!

NO SIDE does to another that the others don't do to them.

I have to disagree with this...yes all sides horde...however....how they conduct themselves within a hording base take and is very different matter......

Bish is just plain madness...absolutely no style at all....hmmm well they do have a style..theirs, they kick bite scratch pull hair and flatten everything with no regard..why care...we can just up again..eventually they won't be able to defend and we will get it boys...just keep going and even before the base is taken the next mass of planes is ready to lift...when rolling like this there is absolutely no care for defense, bang crash bang...let's flatten the world boys  whoop whoop........

Knits... what can you say?!?!...when they finally turn up in the same area at the same time they will offer a little bit of variety...this shows in how they lose total advantage many many times...if they are lucky either somebody actually gets a little order within the ranks and they get a base( I think that this is due more to the confusion of the opposing side,  the wonderment of oh look they have some order messes with the mindset they have got set into, and by the time they snap out of it knits have snuck in a troop carrier ...
or they will accidentally get troops to the map room and call around to find out who got them in...as it is as much of a surprise to them as it is to the opposition...

Rooks are by far the most systematic and professional.....they take and resupply before rolling another base, they have and maintain an actual fighter cap...not some sporadic group session of lead and explosions... they also generally keep things up so that they can actually give a small sense of hope to the opposition....and let's be honest, get some cheap kills too ;))

Now there are exceptions for sure...however in general terms, this is my unofficial laymans observations....I have defended against all sides in all types of frenzied states and this is how I see it more often than not....and I hate all sides equally  :D
