Posted about it when it was first released, I was on the fence for the first day or so, and bought one after that.

I'm really liking it so far.  I've had the Samsung 10" and Blackberry Tablet's before it.  I had used an Ipod Touch, so I knew I disliked the Apple way of doing things compared to PC and Android, but it only took me a day to figure it all out again.

Itunes is not my favorite piece of software in the world, I'll tell you that much, but it does work alright once you figure it out, plus most of what I do is just upload books, songs, and the odd TV show I may want to watch on the road.  I have a home theater PC I keep all my movies, shows, books, and songs on, and with iTunes installed on it, I never have to plug the new ipad Air into it to upload, it's all wireless now.

The Air itself is pretty decent, it is light, if you get to try one in the store hold it up next to an older ipad and you can quickly fell the difference.  The power consumption is what really impresses me after a month or so with it now.  It is very, very efficient with power, I've used it for an entire week without charging it.  Even with heavy use, like reading 3 or 4 hours a day, flipping around while watching something else on TV, and taking it out while sitting in waiting rooms for appointments, I've only needed to charge it every 3rd day or so overnight, and it charges very quickly as well.

The apps still can't be beat IMO too for Apple.  I would buy it again, although I would recommend looking at the ipad Air Mini, if you don't need as large a screen, or if you plan on using it out of the house a lot, the smaller mini would be better IMO, and it's 100$ cheaper, but still has that great new retina screen resolution, and the same new processor that the Air uses.  It is a little slower due to the size and cooling issues, but it's negligible, and much, much faster than the previous models.

Most of the stuff on Netlix now is in HD, and takes advantage of the Super HD streaming rates with the Retina display resolution on the Air and Air Mini.  Very good resolution for this particular application compared to the previous models, it's as close to blu ray on a laptop as anything I've seen.

Thanks Gman. Also considering a laptop. Maybe buy something like an ASUS $300-400ish, kill Winders and load Linux. It's for general home browsing and during vacation.

I have a few laptops about the place as well.

A tablet will never replace a good laptop, especially a gaming laptop like the Asus or MSI ones, IMO.

If you don't need portability, as in putting it in a small bag or large pocket, the laptop will serve you far better IMO - for the 500$ an Ipad Air will run you, you can find 17" really fast laptops out there now, that will do everything and then some.

I just bought the Air primarily for reading, everything else is secondary to me, and it does the eBook thing exceptionally well, due to the screen and the power.  If you aren't getting the new Ipad for that, IMO, a laptop is absolutely the way to go.

Or get those new Sony laptops that double as a tablet.  Definitely more expensive but gives you the best of both worlds.  Havent stayed up to date on it assuming its on the way with the ability to revert back to the old Windows look, but need a touch screen for that bloody Windows 8.  I know Sony offers the ability to upgrade any laptop for whatever it was $50 or $100 to a touch screen ability.  I myself have a Vaio almost 3 years old now and still plays the new games like Battlefield with all the eye candy.  Have a 4 year ADH warranty so I something "may happen" to it so I can get a new one next year.  Love Sony's customer service.  I broke a key and USB port last year and they sent someone to my house to fix it.
