none of the MB screws have insulators.

if the MB wasnt supposed to be grounded, then why are ea mount hole surounded by a raised metal
washer?

right little cardboard/rubber washers. dont know much about grounding on puters, but I do know if you dont instal those rubber/cardboard washers, mobo goes caput.

Those little standoffs DO infact ground the motherboard, but they also raise it so solder points are not shorted when they touch bare metal in your case. Every screw on a motherboard acts as a earth ground which connects to the PSU via the metal casing. This is for preventing SOME electrical static discharge and other ground points.

that's what i thought.

unfortunately my new tower is factory painted :(
so out comes the dremel to sand away the paint so i have continuity of the standoffs to the chassis, and thus MB to the chassis.

The threads in your screw mounts will not be painted so save your trouble lol.
