Big <<S>> to the 332nd
« on: December 13, 2013, 11:58:11 PM »
I have flown a lot of FSO's over the years and have taken part in some great bomber missions. I have seen some top notch escorts. Tonight was one of them.

332nd you guys did a great job for us tonight.

On behalf of the LCA a hearty  :salute and thank you.

Rock on Fellas

Hello; tunes here ...

As a B24 Pilot in Frame 2. With the sky ahead filled with 190's and 109's. I knew our ten sets of bombers where in for a hell of a pounding. The axis had a clear 10K Alt. advantage with close to the same over the Lighting's.

Close formation lead by Hightone was the order. So we all braced for the attack. We had LCA Escorts which we know are tried and true. And from the orders I was aware of a second Squadron assigned Escort.

The 322nd piloting maybe six 38's where unknown to me as a squadron. But I was soon to see pilots that were out classed in their Aircraft. Protect and defend the bomber set from an early detection point a sector away from finail turn. To a sector into the target.

All four tune's flights of B24's made it into target. With two to three Enemy aircraft weaving at will around the flights along with the main bomber group.  THE OUT COME.

The Target A54. As tunes2 was the last bomber circled in for cleanup. "Looked like a chicken that got caught up in a tractors Nuts."

The successful resouts and the minimum losses of this sortie would have not been possible without the Great Airmenship shown by the 332nd Flying Mongrels.  <S>.
