Mic Issue
« on: January 03, 2014, 11:06:17 PM »
Ok I got a new PC and am still working out the kinks, and have come across one I do not have an answer to.  At first I thought my mic was not working, but then noticed if I talk REALLY loud I am just barely audible.  I have the mic volume and DB Boost maxed in game.

Check the device being used in the games Options->Preferences->Game Sounds and make sure the correct device is being used for the microphone.

Your computer may be using a mic on a camera instead of the headset one.

Right click on the speaker in the corner of your task bar, click on recording devices. Set the right mic to "use as default". Right click on that mic and click on properties. Click on the "levels" tab. Here you can adjust the level of the pick up.

Cut the volume and gain back to about a third of max and turn off the extra dB boost.

I used to have problems with sound volume and found that I had the levels too high and it was overpowering the system to the point I had nothing. Cut everything back then test it in Windows, then you can slowly work up to a "normal" volume.

That would have been my next guess after the obvious previous ones. The next obvious one...
