January 1 68Raptor Everything can change on New Year's Day
On January 1st 1945 Hitler's last gamble "Operation Bodenplatte" took off at first light to attack Airfields of the 2nd 9th and 15th Air Forces. Scheduled during the Ardennes Offensive, Weather played a big part of its being delayed until the New Year. Although 1000 Axis Pilots took place in the "Big Blow" most of them were new pilots.

American, British and Canadian troops are heading to their jump off points on the beaches of Normandy, they expect to come up against German strong points (coastal guns) designed to hold up the Allies long enough for reinforcements to arrive
January 15th Molsman The Battle of Sicily
By July of 1943 the air campaign to capture the Island of Sicily was underway. This prior to Operation Husky the amphibious Invasion of the Island. The RAF's Desert Air Force and the USAAF's 12th Air Forces flew hundreds of sorties in preparation for the first American invasion of the war.
January 22 68JR Night Fight at the Baltic!
During the winter 1943-1944 Soviet bomber groups made several night attacks to the city of Helsinki and the harbor of Kotka. LW's night fighter squadrons from Tallinn and Malmi tried to defend these targets
