Battlefield 4
« on: December 13, 2013, 08:13:15 PM »
is awful.  I used to play Battlefield 2 quite regularly.  I liked the fact that it was grounded in somewhat of a realistic basis.  For the most part, everyone was on par with each other.  There were a few guns to be unlocked, but that was about it.  Mainly it was about tactics.  Coordinating the infantry with mechanized vehicles, landing a UH60 full of troops at a rear enemy base, or having a mixed formation of Abrams and Bradleys storming a capture point.  Or even when just doing infantry battles, I found it a blast to play as a medic with just an M-16 and a medkit and reviving wounded soldiers.

Battlefield 4 is an instant-action, razzle dazzle, unlock a bunch of guns and forget about tactics type of game.  Style over substance.  The graphics are good.  That's about it.  Maps are nowhere as big as they were in Battlefield 2.  Team cooperation and strategy are out of the window.  I am highly disappointed in BF4.

Currently ignoring Vraciu as he is a whoopeeed retard.

They had a lot of problems on this launch which they are slowly ironing out. I dont think AE and Dice will ever fully recover from it tho.

Personally I think its loaded with Hacks. And its one where you cant walk on and do well, its a squad based game. Unfortunately they got rid of VOIP about 4 BFs ago and tho they have brought it back, squad VOIP at least, the culture refuses to allow players to use it since everyone is on TS or Skype, or whatever. So yes team work is virtually non existant. The game moves far to fast to allow useful type chat comms.

There are to many hackers, to many snipers, to many weapon types, and the hit registration code is poor. I was hoping it would turn more into a proper sim but instead it has turned more COD. At its best it is brilliant, the graphics and damage engine unprecedented, but all to often its at its worst. The BF series has lost me.

I bought it to spend time with my kid who is stationed in ND. . So for that it has worked but overall it has been a big fail.

I like bf4 and i dont.  I wouldnt say its turned into cod u still unlock weapons the same way since bad company. Although i got to say i was very dissapointed in the campain. And the teamdeath match maps seem to have gotten smaller as well. But i would play bf over cod anytime.

I very much liked bf1942.  I'm not as keen on the modern stuff as it often seems to devolve into being more about the weapon than the man.  I wish there were a new bf1942.

Me too. I tried BF4 beta and from that short experience it seems that the problems in hit registration are still left. The only difference was that it wasn't yet filled with hacks in the early beta stage so it was kinda playable when the enemy didn't instantly headshot or boost shot you.

From what I saw anyway I decided that the smartest move is to wait a year or two. Then my hardware will be updated again and it will be on the discount bucket so I can buy it at the 10% price point, which is about the correct value for the game.

They're selling the premium package for 130 dollars here lol. People are retards for paying that kind of price.

Agreed!  http://www.twitch.tv/boildown/profile

Here's a scenario-like event that my outfit ran for its member you guys might enjoy: http://www.twitch.tv/boildown/c/3143830

Honestly Planetside 2 is pretty good and free, but I think the most balanced, most fun, and best multiplayer FPS of all time is Wolfenstein: Enemy Territories (which also was free).

This is the Captain.  We have a lil' problem with our entry sequence so we may experience some slight turbulence and then... explode.

Tried both. Heros ran like crap, tho they might have fixed it, and Planetside was to out of this world for me. I kinda feel I have no real game right now.

Two games thru the years have blown me away. Aces High and Battleground Europe. I always loved the flight model in AH, the crowd was great, but now?.......The old crowd is mostly gone and the game play has grown stale. BGE is so old it has mold and the people running it seem intent on chasing away as many players as they can and making the game a donation game.

With a graphics update i think I'll be back to Aces High. Thing is I dont like the tank game and its gone to much to it. But at least you actually felt like you were flying an airplane in it. Maybe I'll give Planet Side a try again.
