was a rook back then and we horded 40 to 50 planes at a time to take a base.  we steamed rolled for hours with little to no opposition

Wow. How did you survive that much excitement?
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

see the thing is I was never in a world of aces high where there was chivalry and all the battles were 1v1.  never been around when people consistently asked before joining in.  never have been around when there were unwritten rules that were followed.  never been around when players didnt complain about the lack of quality fights.  never been around when there was no dweebs that ho'd, vulched, horded or dive bombed into cv's.  never been around when the new players spend hours and hours training in the ta so they were experts when moving to the ma.  never been around when 200 was used only for the purpose of congratulating the other player on a battle well fought.  never been around when you didnt had to "settle egos" in the DA.  never been around when the buffs didnt destroy the hangars so as not to "kill the fight".  never been around when there wasnt any whiny experts complaining that the "old days were better".

how can I be full of denial of something I havent experienced?  I only got here 7 years ago.  was a rook back then and we horded 40 to 50 planes at a time to take a base.  we steamed rolled for hours with little to no opposition.  rooks back then won 9 out 10 maps.  we had campers and ho'ers, and kamikaze bombers and dweebs who couldnt fight out of a wet paperback.  we had guys complaining about the lack of following the rules.  we had guys who constantly complained about the lack of quality fights.  we had the euro players constantly complaining about the lack of numbers.

for all of you guys who knew aces high when it was a gentleman's game and saw it it going down hill, I salute you.  now shut the hell up, man up and either quit or quit whining.

Semp, the game as an air combat game is dying a slow death atm in numbers and quality, fact. If you seriously think the number or quality of A2A fights is the same now as even 3 years ago let alone 7 you need to stop drinking.

It will reach a stage were the only thing thats left is guys like you who err on the extreme side of caution, you'll be flying around desperately trying to avoid each other  :rofl then you may as well start playing offline lol.

no boss, before you even mention that the number of quality fights is less now than 3 or 7 years ago.  then do a search of "quality fights" and you will see that people have been complaining about the "quality of fights" being less than before since prior to 2000.

actually once you do that then search for "dweebs" and "hordes".  those threads sound like they were written today.  some are pretty funny.  I just spent an hour reading some. funny as heck, i tell ya.  just do the search in the "wish" and "general discussion" so as not to take too long.

you think you have problems finding fights.  look at this poor player who cant find more than a con or two sectors away.

I miss when McDonalds was 79 cents for a Big Mac.  :old:

Not that I was alive or anything but it would be pretty cool to get a Big Mac for 79 cents

Not that I am on the skill level as some of you guys posting , but I have been having an easy time finding fights. If I see 2 or 3 guys on a con , I just fly off. Most time I just drag a couple away from the group and fight them. At least I think im fighting, dunno though according to your standard of fight. Just a very select group honor that, most just want to kill. I told a guy tonight who was railing on 200 about a guy who had tried to deack and get a vulch, but died in the process, to just let him be. The guy flying was a newer player obviously and just wanted to have fun and kill some things.

I do find that those who complain about fight quality , most often can't even beat me, but just run back to base or get a buddy in a 5 inch gun to try and pop me. You need to determine what kind of person you would like to be viewed as and strive to be that guy in game.

Many people dont like me, but they know if they run into me then they're gonna get a good fight and have a good time.

Current game play to me is exactly the same as it was 13 years ago:
hoers
runner
jabos
ack huggers
lemmings
snapshot artist
armchair generals
Know it alls
straffers
complainers

WMLute told me a long time ago "it ain't bragging if you can back it up"

Have fun and enjoy it for what it is. A game for flight buffs and ww2 fanatics.

2003 the game was growing. Now its on decline. Maybe its time to start listening to those problems which seem to have persisted through the years.

In 2003 the problems probably came with the rise in numbers and new style of gameplay i.e. hording. New players kept rolling in with deaths of both AW and WB, hordes gained more numbers up to the point where HTC had to kill the MA and split it to two smaller arenas. About the same time I think started a large decline in player numbers as players like me absolutely hated the split server. After years of decline new competition comes along with f2p strategy. A sizeable chunk of players were ripped off there and they attract probably most prospective new players with their free model and fancy graphics.

All is not well in AH land and that's an absolute shame. And the biggest problems are the players who think 'me me me' instead of 'us'.

I would say HOers pickers hoardes etc are the very least of AH's problems, the rise of GVs and more likely the 12 hour rule have killed off an important section of the playerbase regards combat imo.

What remains is more inclined to only attack when the odds are overwhelmingly in their favour and choose not to participate in a disadvantageous situation. What left would switch countries to defend against overwhelming odds with little chance of living.

People should take up golfing...its easier to learn and it takes less time than AH...and, the equipment costs are about the same lol :aok

We all know semp on sight...

well maybe not his face, but the rest of him sticks out around here.  :devil

I don't think semp would know a fight if it punched him in the nose.
