FPS
« on: December 31, 2013, 09:02:11 AM »
Has something changed?

In the last 3 days I am getting see sawing frame rates. It is usually fairly steady with just mild swings. Dropping a smidge when I get into highly populated areas. Now its dancing all over, 119 down to below 50. It usually never goes that low. Lots of warping and the enemy seems to just appear on me even when banging thru the view keys.

I had made 2 changes. I updated my chipset driver to Intel latest 9.4 and reinstalled my sound drivers to Realteks from MS drivers.
I have rolled back the chipset driver, uninstalled the Realtek driver, rollbacked the vid card settings and the frame rate is still fluctuating quite a bit, even in a less populated area.

This is a new issue for me wondered what was up.

It seems like you're playing with vsync disabled.  Have you tried playing the game with it enabled?  Sometimes that helps smooth things out.

I have v-sync enabled for the game. I have it off with the vid card profiles.
It has been this way for awhile.
I use EVGA precision to cap the FPS at 120. My monitor is only 60MHz refresh so ultimately that's all I really get. I started this method because it med to help smooth things out. 2 vid cards in sli mode using alternate rendering.

Things were quite good until 3 days ago. Just asking here if something has changed with the game, if not I will have to spend the time running down whats wrong with my puter. Normally I show 120 to 112 frame rate, sometimes dropping a little lower. Dropping down to low 40's tho has never occurred till now.

Its possible the chipset update did something, but the issue stayed after I reverted back to the chipset I was using. Guess I will try a restore or a repair disc.

I have had issues for a couple of weeks lately. Mostly I've got an almost solid 59 with occasional drops, the worst lately having been 3. Yes, three, on the deck behind a hill the other side of which there was a furball over the town. The strange thing is, that it only happens in certain places, one of the strangest having been our own unattacked field and the valley leading to shore. Got very low fps there, but while attacking the burning nearby enemy field there was nothing wrong. I've sent Skuzzy a couple of emails, the latter including a film, but no answer yet. Good to hear that it's not only me having fps issues.

Well a system restore appears to have help. Should not have installed that latest chipset driver. FPS went down to 87 but no lower, average 112. Quite possibly been doing that as normal. I have not watched the FPS counter religiously so.....

Does not seem to matter in a crowd so much, I can be on an empty field and they will drop. I just do not remember it going so low after I did the change I mentioned. I did the change, watched the counter awhile and it was pretty steady. That was last summer.

But then last night there was over 350+ players on, usually its around 300+/-.
My WEI score is 7.5, that's lowest number being the cpu. Ram is 7.9, vid is 7.8, 7.8. Which should be fine for this game.
