Was it like the P47 D11 's sight that we have now? Where you would have two sights instead of one?   Because it would be harder to see the target if we added sights to the 88s.

If they are what I am thinking of anyways, does anyone have a photo of it?
If we have something to show we will & do post shots, if we have nothing new to show we don't.

Here guys,

Info on German 88mm gunsight

http://www.lonesentry.com/manuals/88mm-antiaircraft-gun/sighting-equipment-german-artillery-88mm.html

Also while you have this manual listed please take note HTC staff of the high speed gearing for gun rotation. We have every other flack turret set at high speed gearing but the 88's.  :aok

+1  on the gunsight
+1  on the fast rotation speed.

The higher gearing speed would make the 88 about as uber as the 5 inch for everyone. It would become the new norm to snap shoot fighters out of the air within 5k of the base. You can just about do it now if your first ranging shot is near dead on and you have a feel for the elevation and fuze settings. As of now that creates two tiers of players. The few who practice with the 88 along with the small number of naturals. And the rest who wish the 88 worked like the 5 inch.

As much as I would like this, my highest landed kill score with the 5 inch is 51. Do you really want me to have an 88 on a base with a 5 inchers travers speed? I'm hitting fighters regularly at 3k now along with tanks to 7k just using the ring. As is, if the 88 had a faster reload, the current travers speed would not be a problem for me while I tracked the con with the ack puffs which are the secret to adjusting to moving planes.

As for the gunsight to engage land targets. That would be nicer than having to waste up to 5 ranging shots.

I agree, I would like the anti-gv gunsight. But I'm not too eager for the faster rotation speed. I about freaked when I got into a 37mm last night (forgot they turned so fast) .  I wouldn't want that for the 88, even if it turned "as fast as" the 5in, I wouldn't be all for it.   While I honestly would like the advantage in something I'm good at, I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of it. So I say -1 for faster rotation speed, but to compensate, perhaps a slightly faster reload?  :pray

Just a thought :)

Why would you give it a faster loading time when they programmed that correct. Then want the slower rotation of the 88 when every other flack gun is at it's fastest rotation?

All I asked was for a workable gunsight for gvs.  Traverse speed should be as close to real as possible! :x

Traverse is correct for low gearing.

If it were at high gearing, wing shooting at 1.5 as show offs thumbed their noses at ack, roaring across the field would be stupidly simple. As is, you have to be very good at anticipating them or lucky. The current traverse speed makes the 88 fine for shooting past 2k. Getting your azimuth, lead and fuse range in sync is the art. A few players are evolving into monsters of Kentucky windaging that lately.

It would be helpful to have the direct fire sight and azimuth mechanism enable for defending against tanks when you switch to AP rounds. As is, 88's are death traps the moment you start ranging a tank. Past 3k, often your AP round bounces off tanks, and takes several hits which the tank's better optics won't allow with the greater numbers of tank fans in our game today.

We are evolving to deal with the 88, and the tanks and planes are winning. Mann able defensive guns are death traps and nuisance targets for players with even the lowest abilities if they choose to target them and not look for picks.

The problem is that when e.g. a flight of bombers are over the base and fly over you it takes ages to rotate the gun 180 degrees to continue firing at them.

As has been proposed before the fast rotation mode could be locked so that firing is not possible in "fast" mode.
