About the 80 Character Posting Limit Error

What is this:

            The following error or errors occurred while posting this message:
            The message exceeds the maximum allowed length (80 characters).

It means the subject line is too long. Many times, someone will have a subject line so long, that when anyone replies, the "RE: " added by the system puts it over the limit. Just edit the subject line before you submit, and all is good.

Forgot a title, or the title is too long. I believe the latter. Title when it hits the limit, will be past the limit with the "Re: (title)" that is added upon any reply.

Wheww thought I was being penalized for something I obiviously didn't do, nor have done in the past or had planned on doing in the future    well maybe not.

Whats this about? Pops up no matter how many characters used.

The 80 character limit is for the subject line, not the body of your post.

Some people have created a thread with a subject line right at 80 characters. When you respond the system automatically puts "re:..." in front of the subject line, which puts you over the 80 character limit. Hit reply, type what you are going to though take some characters out of the subject line. Should work.

If it does not you have an error greater than my ability to resolve.

If you get the error concerning the 80 character posting limit, it may have nothing to do with your post.  Check the topic length in your posting response.  More than likely that is the problem.

Simply edit it and your post will go through fine.
