Arrowhead Stadium RC Flyover
« on: January 13, 2014, 04:23:31 PM »
At Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri,  Sunday, October 13, 2013....
As you know the budget cuts have eliminated the military flyovers at large events. Well, there's a group of guys in Kansas City who do some formation flying in their own planes and decided they'd volunteer to pick up the slack. They invited a couple of other groups to join them and before they knew it they had 48 guys with their homemade RC airplanes signing up to join in. If they had more time, they probably would have gotten an even larger group as people kept joining and a 49th was added near the event. One additional feature of the flyover was the use of pink smoke for cancer awareness. The folks from the Guinness Book were there and are expected to confirm it as the largest formation flight ever. And to top it off the crowd later set the record for the loudest gathering at a football game.

If it takes full power to taxi to the hanger, your gear is probably up.

They are not heavy, so its a fighter sweep.

Its good to see they are not all in ponys again, flying the higher eny planes is more fun anyway :aok

Just simply cool... Kudos to all those guys who did this on their own dime.....

Of course, they must have practiced a bit, as formation flying was likely foreign to most of them.

At Oshkosh in 2000 a large formation of T-34s flew in.  They all had their landing lights on, as they became visible through the haze it looked like the Death Star bearing down on the field.  Awesome.

If anybody remembers a guy named Glider in game he is one of those pilots. I got to take a ride with him when I was in Dallas. His aircraft has a plaque for a Guinness record they hold. We did a 2 plane formation flight with another RV. Tons of fun!
