My dad is going in to have a defibrillator implanted in his chest as I type this.  Drove up to Maryland from NC yesterday to be here for the procedure.

Just posting on here to keep myself occupied...

Bummer. The great spirit and I are at odds right now but know you have my best wishes.

Thanks all.  He's home today resting.  It's normally an outpatient procedure but given his history they decided to keep him one more night.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers....they are most appreciated.  :)

... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

do you mean to say..."you are at odds with the great spirit..."

because he is not at odds with you....I am guessing anyways...do to the fact that you would even mention that as a point.....
that means he(<----used figuratively) is in your heart.....and if that is so, then you can not be one he does not contend with...

if he is in your heart he chose you.....

you shouldn't be angry at him for what happens in this world....we humans have brought it on our selves.....that whole "free will" thing is a 2 edged sword.

well I hope you dad has better luck than mine, 5mos after a 5 way bypass is still house bound.
but then, golfing with your friends, being independent is so overrated.

but why should complain. I got fired a mo after the operation for mentioning one day about back pain, lost my home, moved back in
with dad and now I can take care of him :D

once again, hope you dad has better luck than mine.

Very sorry to hear this.  This will be my father's fourth heart related operation.  He's had one three-way bypass then a second aborted bypass 5 years later that was changed to a procedure that keeps his heart going but reduced the amount it pumps per beat to about 30% of what a normal person's heart pumps.  End result...he does get around very well.  Add in the developed MS three years ago and then diabetes, which he didn't take care of so he ended up damaging his kidneys...and you can see he's got the veritable trifecta of issues.  70 years old and he gets around like a man 20 years older.  Most of his problems are pretty much a result of a not so healthy lifestyle i.e he smoked for 45 years, drank, ate both food groups (meat AND potatoes) etc.

In all he seems to take it in stride.  He likes to quote Mickey Mantle:  "If I knew I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself."   :aok
