Congrats and welcome to the retired status. Why Syracuse though? There are lots of places with nicer weather and friendlier retiree taxes etc.
DEFINITION OF A VETERAN
A Veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America", for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I decided on Syracuse because my wife and I liked the area and what it has to offer and I am from New York. I like the cold weather spent enough time in the hot weather.

Congrats Tomcat. I got rather nostalgic visiting LackLand AFB last year to watch my son graduate Basic and kinda wished I had stayed in. Its a good, honorable life.

I spent 4 years as a USAF security policeman, 3 years in a State police agency, and am on my 28th year as a Chicago policeman. Im slated to retire next December.

Congrats on your retirement. The years do get away dont they?

I think the 4 years in the service of my country were the best of my life. :salute

Thanks all. I plan on spending more time on AH than I have in the past couple of years. Of course, I will looking for a job for additional income to supplant my pension and disability. Going to take a bit of time to adjust to civilian life.
