Whatever the plane set, I hope HTC is keeping an eye on the scenario-ability of the overall plane set.  Other than the IL-2 and a divebomber, I don't think any of the planes mentioned really enhance the ability to do any different types of scenarios than we can do right now (unless you count "Try to Catch the Arado" as a new type).

Hmmm... now the question I have is, Is the La7 a variant or a modified? To me it would be a modified, a variant would be more like a La5F as opposed to the La5FN or just a simple La5. Each one being powered by a different engine.

The La7 is a modified, I think, because of the revised wing structure(metal spars relacing the wooden box spars), a revised inboard wing leading edge and an entirely new cowling. Same engine, but possiblity to mount 3 Berezina B-20 cannons. These were installed on the aircraft built at Yaroslavl, the ones built in Moscow reverted to twin ShVAK cannons.

The amazing thing about the La7 over the La5 is such a huge increase in top speed over the previous model even though it's powered by the same engine. La5FN's max speed is 403MPH at ~20K while the La7's max speed is 423MPH at ~19K.

Anywho, I think it's one of the modified aircraft we will be getting, not a variant.

Just my opinion of course.

AKSeaWulfe that reminds me. I can't think of the planes name right now but there is a real good example of a relatively minor aerodynamic modification in a jet making the difference between level flight M1 and not being able to make it to M1. They reshaped the hull of the plane so that at the wing root it narrowed (like a Coke bottle) to reduce drag. That allowed the plane to go M1 with the same engine.

I hope very much that we will see a Ki84 included in the planeset for 1.06.   The current AH planeset has no aircraft at all from the Japanese Army Air Force - only the Imperial Japanese Navy is represented.   The Ki61 would also be most welcome, as would a Japanese level bomber and some Japanese carrier-based attack aircraft.

10bears has submitted a gorgeous Luzon terrain and we have CV ops now.  It'd be a shame not to include some fine Japanese AC.

<whacks Hang> That's Tokyo Rose you Gimp!

Let's see here....

Modified from existing planes:
Fw-190 F8 (G8 or D9 maybe?)
Tempest V
P-51H
P-47M
La-7
Ki-84

All new:
Ar.234
Il-2 Type 3 [prays for twin 23mm VYa guns]

You can't really call differences between Mods and Variants since they're the same thing. Variants will use the same parts as an existing model, which makes them a Modification.

4 variants... One of them gotta be 190F-8! So many has asked for it and it would expand planeset for nicely in historical sense, about 5000 F model Wulfs were produced during war, one third of whole production.

Modifieds could include D-9 and it will not be perk plane, there is simply no reason for it. It is match for P-51D, nothing more.

All new will of course have Ar 234 Blitz as new perk bomber.

At any rate, I think it will be great update! Ar 234 alone is great news for me but F-8 would really make my day
