Nice article.
The word "incidence" is used to describe AOA for high altitude flight and induced AOA of the wingtip vortices. Hopefully that won't confuse anyone.

Years ago, someone on this board posted that the washout built into the Spitfire's elliptical wing negates any supposed benefits that the elliptical shape would give it.  Thoughts?

There's a critical difference between reducing a benefit and negating it. Washout increases the induced drag but the trade off is increased control in the stall. Did anyone post data on the actual increase in induced drag from the washout and how that compared to other wing shapes with washout?

I don't remember if they did nor not.  This was a big thread about critical mach, but it's been years ago.  Did all WWII aircraft have washout built into their wings?
