Rank changes
« on: February 02, 2014, 08:11:33 PM »
The post that got me thinking on this was this one by Fox

Why not use the current scoring methods to award a highest score in each plane each tour.  Lots of people could be the highest score every month, just in different planes.  The overall highest score could be left as is, which is usually achieved by using a high percentage of perked planes and gvs.

Which is in this forum topic if you are so interested to read it.  http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,358377.0.html

If I understood it correctly, pretty much each plane has their own 'rank' that could be listed. Then the "overall" best would be (and should be in my opinion) perks earned that tour and overall hit % while in planes of that rank (fighter, bomber attack etc) .   I think it could increase the amount of higher ENY plane usage because of the 'uber possibility of becoming #1 in this plane and having my name posted on the front page of HTC's website'.  Even if it is just that, at least we would see more 'diversity' in the air.

Just a thought :)

Edit: Also, have it so that the score also shows how many perk planes you killed (lists all perk planes then how many of each type you killed, then how many perks in total you 'stole' from other players).

That would also be 'listed' as one of the things on the overall score/rank.

tinkles,

I think it has been pretty much explained that most people dont fly planes due to eny but because they have fun in it.  most players dont play for rank at all.

as an example, I'll say me.  I love playing the ponyd, not because it is fast, or because it as 6 .50 mg's but because I grew up watching movies about how the pony was the best airplane in ww2, blah, blah, blah.

I dont care if I rank #1 or 10,000 in it.  I just love flying it.  my other airplanes are the il2 as a tank buster and the spit8.  my bomber of choice is the b26.  I didnt decide on any of them due to eny.  you can move the eny up or down and still wont make me fly "the higher eny" airplanes. and I think most people dont really care either.

anyway, I think the only way you are gonna make people fly higher eny planes is if you give free money every month.  I say about 15 bucks for each 100 sorties and even then I think I would just pay my membership rather than waste what little time I have to play on "higher" eny planes.

I know what you mean. (Feel out of place even posting this topic). To be honest, I don't really care of rank either. It's not something I fly for. The only thing I really 'grade' myself on (in terms of being good) is hit % and perks earned.  As for K/D ratios I'm not really concerned on because I goof off too much to even consider that seriously.  This was just a suggestion to 'fix the broken/lopsided ranking system'.  Easy to abuse, but even though it doesn't have any serious benefits with having a higher rank, I think it should be fixed, if not for the 'abuse the rank' thing, at least to make it more appealing or.. laid back/fun.

Because it would be interesting to see out of all the percentage of people who fly the planes I do, which number I would be in that list. Then the best player for hit percentage per plane, etc. Just a random thing I guess.

So this isn't so much a wish on the rank system as "make it better so I can control CVs all day", but make it more.. diverse.. fun in a sense.  At least more informative.  If you find out that so-in-so is better in P51s for hit ratio you can then ask him questions on how he aims, gunsights, convergences etc.

Just a thought
