How many German states want independence? :rofl

See you later Scotland don't let the door slam you on the arse  when you leave :old:

We won't. Don't worry.

We have a saying in Scotland that seems quite true. If they win, they are British, if they lose they are Scottish.

I won't go any further into this as I will get myself Pnged. I don't want that, Leaving this convo.

I think it is a question of historical inertia more than anything. The first ever international football match was between England and Scotland in 1872. When FIFA was formed in 1904 the individual UK countries' football associations all became members and its stayed that way ever since.

At the London Games the UK entered a football team to the Olympics for the first time. There was a lot of resistance to this from the various non-English football associations though, including threats of international bans to players taking part. They were worried that FIFA would say if the UK has an Olympic squad they should have an international UK squad as well and the various national associations would lost their international match income and maybe become extinct.

Thanks, that's kind of what I thought.  So basically the Scots and English and Welsh enjoy being independent football and rugby rivals, but the Olympics having a lot more individual sports events vs team events it's not such a big deal.

My other question is where Northern Ireland fits in.  I noticed in the opening ceremony that it is "Great Britain" and not "The United Kingdom".  It was my understanding that Great Britain is a geographical term just referring to the big island.  ( ie Northern Ireland is part of the United Kingdom, but not on the isle of Great Britain)  so... do Northern Irish athletes also compete under the umbrella of Great Britain in the Olympics?  If so, why does the team compete as "Great Britain" and not "United Kingdom" ???

We want a referendum in England which had been promised for the last 20 years and the Scots get one at the drop of a hat :old:

If Scotland stays or goes is of little consequence

Seeing how this responce seems to make the most sense i shall honor it with the freedom left from 1776.

I ask where will the coventry come from once divided...probably from your like mindedness, but anyway; get over it england, no more games, the internext is upon us and your pale skinned grasp can not last forever.

Free the welsh beings from your tax England, let the wealthy scotch horde from their masses. freedom shall ring so that the balls and word hold sway.

Scotland will lose a lot more than it will gain should it leave the union. The Welsh don't want to leave, only 10% of them do.

Scotland would take on £122 billion of debt. There is only £130billion of oil left. £8billion won't last them very long, they'll quickly go "Greek" and need a bail out..

Scotland could just invade England, and take all your money while you lot are occupied with tea time and your crumpets, or finding ways to worsen your already horrendous teeth :old:.
You started this thread and it was obviously about your want and desire in spite of your use of 'we' and Google.
