Models of the Corsair actually had a dive-break setting that allowed the gear to be partially extended for use as a dive break.  Dropping gear for use as a dive break (at certain speeds) does work for Corsairs in the game as well.  While this was meant primarily for ground attack, isn't it reasonable for someone to use a design feature of a fighter in order to engage a slower target?  This is no different than reducing throttle, side-slipping or dropping combat flaps (in those planes that can), IMO.

While you've always had gripes in your films, they seem to be more and more about griping and ridiculing other players lately (perhaps a clever way of circumventing the forum rules) and less for entertainment and/or instruction.  Just an observation, because you've had some good film contributions in the past.

Hopefully all is well with you.

Not every video needs to meet your PG-13 expectations.

^ Don't worry… I made sure it was Little Mermaid face palming so you would be comfortable viewing it.

Where did I say that they did?

I've seen enough of his films to know they will not be work/kid appropriate.  ;)  I watch them because they are at the very minimum amusing, and sometimes quite instructive.  Set aside all the swearing, griping, HO-ing and sitting in tower parts and there is usually some good combat footage in there too, often accompanied by some good music.

I know you were eager to drop your cute little Ariel gif on me, so I forgive your missing the intent of my post.  If you read it again, you may note that I was making an observation that 1) the action in the film wasn't gripe-worthy and 2) his films have been increasingly about griping, and not so much in the past.  I was hoping he was OK and this wasn't indicative of some level of frustration with the game.  That was all.

Playing along though, I offer you a gif of a confused and befuddled Ariel, who may also have reading comprehension problems.

p.s. The forum actually does have rules regarding berating other players, you know.  Given your Google-fu, you should be able to find them.   :aok

If you read it again
No need, wasting enough time even replying to you.

I just hadn't seen that move in a while it irked me a bit that ol' Hiedy had to break his neck to get down there and shoot me even though there wasn't a soul for miles, and I wasn't goin anywhere. So what was the rush I thought.

As for circumventing the rules. No, that wasn't my intention and never will be I just thought that using gear instead of flaps was a poor decision under the current fighting parameters, and yes I am aware that the gear were designed to have those lowered at those speeds. But in the first fight a simple spiral downward would have gotten him into range and most likely a kill on the first pass because as he closed to range because he was calm collected and watching the target he could have then added flaps and made a nice crossing shot from good range. In the second fight the guy should not have had his gear down was it intentional or did he forget to put his gear up I'm not sure but it didn't end well for him.

In addition people are in too big a hurry I have to get there now now now, and now I need to stop now now now I must make a kill right now! Instead of taking thirty extra seconds and lining the shot up from afar he rushed it three times before killing a fairly large medium bomber. But did I say all that on film? No. because folks do what they want and I just try to do what I want.

Thanks nad have a nice day. Vudu15

Imagine the time you could have saved by reading it right the first time.  ;)

I could argue several points of semantics on this with you, but you've already agreed here that using films in this way may be a clever way to circumvent the forum rules.

Thanks for taking the time to agree with me.  :aok

OK, I see where you're coming from.  I agree with your angst against the "now, now, now" "make it easy" crowd.  I was just concerned your posting films solely for griping (with little other content or combat) may be indicative of something else.

Just hope you're well.  Take it easy.

Actually, I would like to see the original AHF file. The reason is an actual limitation of the F4U, which is not demonstrated in Aces High. While the F4U certainly could use the gear as dive brakes, it could not use them as speed brakes. In other words, to prevent speed building is one thing, but to bleed speed off is entirely different. The reason is simple. The F4U would get a very heavy elevator control beyond certain speeds. This required the pilot to use both hands to use elevator. If a pilot has both hands on his elevator then he is unlikely to use a hand to move flaps, or gear, or throttle.

There are other issues in the game. The N1K is supposed to have automatic flaps. I have never seen any indication that the pilot could even control the flaps at all. So, a pilot deciding to drop flaps in AH should not be a possibility as far as the evidence I have seen goes. Same goes for the Ki84. But then. . . we also have rear guns on the Arado, so go figure.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.
