I can't help but think of that old joke. The joke goes that a Swedish farmer caught this guy with his daughter and told him to get out of here. He gets to the top of the hill next to the farm and yodels. At that point the farmer shot him. When asked why he said, He got my old lady too.
Well last night I was defending a strip of vbases in my trusty f4. The bases are flashing and I strain my eyes trying to find the culprit or culprits. The radars are down. So it's tedious. Finally I spot a low set of lancs and zoom down for a shot. They are low so not real fast but fast enough. I take a few pings but rid myself and the trespasser of one of the lancs. Soaring up I loop over and target a second lanc. He pulls up this time. I assume to make me miss and to take some of my energy away. Once again I'm pinged and once again a lanc goes down. Now just one left. His maneuver worked to slow me down so I hit wep and dip a bit for some energy. Pull up this time but instead of looping I make a hard right turn aided by my flaps. That was so I could keep a good angel of attack. I dive in hammer a wing off, crash into his plane and loourdes yes, got his gunner too.
