P40E of 2 Squadron, South African Air Force
« on: March 04, 2014, 12:44:17 AM »
Revo asked me to skin a p40E he found, and with the assistance of Lyric sent me some pictures.

Piloted by Squadron C/O Major D.B Hauptfleish, 2Sqn, EV421, 1943. It has his intials, this is shortly before the squadron converted to Spitfires the following month.

There appears to be a problem with photobucket server, there are supposedly 3 pics.

I believe that's because the South African roundels and fin markings ARE orange.
Ron White says you can't fix stupid. I beg to differ. Stupid will usually sort itself out, it's just a matter of making sure you're not close enough to become collateral damage.

At some point the SAAF changed over to orange.
Early on they were just the same RAF red.
