airplane icons
« on: March 04, 2014, 11:07:17 AM »
How  about the ability to change the distances I can see airplane icons?   IE I can see the Spit icon at 5k, but I want the icon to turn off when I'm within say 800 yards.

You can use the key board for this. I,Alt will rotate though the icons being off and on at your preference.

Icons work the opposite way. You can have them off and then appear when you close to 800 yards but you can't have them on and then disappear when you close to 800 yards.

I am curious why you want this?  The reason I ask is if they are distracting, make them smaller (you can do that you know?)

Would be nice if the Icons were transparent at 6k+ out, then slowly become more opaque as you get closer...

INK asked for this sometime ago. The icon would shrink to a small red dot or vanish entirely at less than 800 yards.

I think it should be an option when you change your icons (on off etc).

My bigges struggle is finding the target when the background is land. I can silhouette the target pretty easy on the sky and water most of the time, but put some land behind it and i wouldn't hit a lanc. Mix in an icon with that and im just blind spraying at that point. I would go for having the icon gradually dissapear once you started getting within short range.

In this same line, it would be nice to tie a no-icon toggle to the zoom.  Press zoom and the icon disappears press zoom again and it comes back.  Might be much easier to code.

I fly with Saitek X52 pro. I have my zoom level set to thumb control on left side. That is the only thing I have set on that one.  I have to wear glasses to fly so zooming in and out at will in combat is a plus for me.

I also have Saitek X52 pro.   I have the zoom set on the right hand "pinkie" pull button.   I wonder if I can set that button to do two things.   I want it to zoom and not toggle the icon types, but turn them on and off.

it will toggle your zoom on and off but not in and out.   when you zoom in close enough the icon will just disappear.    :salute

Yeah it is on and off.   I've tried to get one of the analog sliders to work for zooming in and out....but have not found a way to do it.
