Looking at your P40 ink, reminds me, why are your skins out of focus and blurry?

In game, the desert P40 and the PonyB are two that are most noticeable.

you mean the fact that they don't look like they came from the factory all nice and new and shiny... :headscratch:

style of doing it?

No, he means that the paint itself is blurry. Like the insignias and markings especially. This is very apparent on the Pony. I haven't noticed it on the P-40.

Nice skin Frenchy. The dirt wash does look a bit too obviously a software applied effect. I would like to suggest adding a second layer done in a similar way but using slightly different size and/or colours. Then reduce the opacity of each layer by half to get the same overall level of dirt. The two layers should blend together to make the overall effect a lot more random.

Perhaps you could add a shadow effect behind the cowling too.

I tried to make it look like the paint is faded...the insignia faded IE not crisp and clean.....

obviously the paint wont be crisp.....after a bit of time in service...

the lines on the nose art would not be perfectly clean.....freshly done..... let alone after some wear and tear....

maybe one day I will be able to get the results up to your standards.

edit

sorry that sounded snippy

I dont like the look of a fresh out of factory paint job......

I tried to get the exact opposite look of the normal skins seen ingame....

obviously they are not perfect.

yes it would, but it would help to back off on the opacity

It was actually made the made you describe, with two layers one 'darker' one 'lighter', blured and "opacitated". I think I put so much of it that I ended up killing the ramdom look  :lol I'm experimenting new stuff, thank you for the input. :aok

I don't really know how to post in full res out of Photobucket. I took your comments into consideration and here's a version I would feel feel comfortable posting. And BTW, how do I post? Which file do I include? P47D111.bmp, the Material/bump txt files, and the P47D111.txt?

Also my roundels were screewed because of my screen resolution  :lol, so I redid them, do they look round now on your guy's computer?

WTG Frenchy! I haven't been able to find records of aerial victories. I know these guys and 57th were mostly ground attack- any 47 aces from that unit?

The roundels are good Frenchy. When you say post, do you mean submit to HTC? If so, you on submit the files that you've changed.
The upper camoflauge weathering still seems a little strong, I cant put my finger on it, I'll leave the more knowledgeable to comment, but you're getting close.

Yep.  As said above.  Just a little stark.    Gotta' blend your initial effort with this one.

I am in no way criticizing.  I think it is one heck of a good effort and you'll get it down flawlessly...   This is hard to do.   Just keep it up.

I think I preferred the first rendition.  I think you need a motion blur on the original skin to make it look like the pictures...
