New arena
« on: March 31, 2014, 04:36:14 AM »
I remember when the Brewster and the i-16 first came out. Everyone was flying them against each other in what amounted to a spontaneous player self recreation of the actual clash of the two in the skies over FinLand in the war.

How hard would it be to make a new arena, just using the same small maps we already have, with small rotating plane sets of actual historical/theater correct air craft that really clashed during the war? It would be a sort of FSO 24/7, and it doesnt have to include only aircraft but ground vehicles as well. They could be rotating sets, rotating maps, "we already have them from previous events right"?

The only rule would have to be they must have actually fought each other in the war. It would be a great way to get the early/mid war aircraft and vehicles back into the fight in a realistic way. The arena wouldnt have to be organized or even have huge plane sets. Just "real" ones.

And the Brewster turned out to the eat the I-16's breakfast to the point such clashes aren't really fun...but I digress.

Isn't your idea already known as the Axis versus Allies arena?
"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

You're asking for the AvA (Axis vs Allies)
Here's this weeks setup on Rangers' terrain with new desert textures. It's excellent!

The arena is 24/7, and usually people will join if they see someone in there.
Also, we have the best terrains in the game IMO, but then I created some of them.

Tuesday evening, 9pm EST is Staff night and Thursday evening is Thursday Night Tank Fight. Both are reasonably well attended.
