OPERATION CARTWHEEL FRAME 3 SCORES AND SUMMARY
« on: March 22, 2014, 08:29:52 PM »
The Allied Ace was Vlkyrie1 of the 56th FG flying the P-38G.

He was representing Murray "Jim" Shubin, a Pittsburgh PA native, Shubin scored his first victory on February 2nd with another on June 7th. During a huge raid on Guadalcanal on June 16th he would shoot down 5 enemy Zeros and claim another probable. He would claim two more enemy aircraft bringing his total to 11 enemy before being sent back to the states. He was awarded the Silver Star and the DFC. Shubin was killed in a vehicle accident in France in 1956.

While flying his P-38G, Vlkyrie1 made ace in a day shooting down 4 A6M3s and 1 Ki43 and then landing successfully.

22:26:16 Shot down a A6M3 Model 32 flown by DEV1L of 49th Fighter Group
22:39:21 Shot down a A6M3 Model 32 flown by piles3 of 327th Steel Talons.
22:44:08 Shot down a Ki-43-II flown by FBEagle of *****FREEBIRD$****.
22:44:36 Shot down a A6M3 Model 32 flown by Wing of 327th Steel Talons.
22:44:55 Shot down a A6M3 Model 32 flown by FL3 of 327th Steel Talons.

The Axis Ace was Stresser of the Unforgiven flying the A6M3 Model 32.

He was representing Ryoji Ohara. Ohara was sent to Buin in October of 1942 and immediatley began claiming victories, his first on October 23rd. His fellow pilots dubbed him the killer of Rabaul and was credited with shooting down the F4U-1 of VMF-124 CO, William Gise on 13 May 1943. Ohara was later transferred back to Japan where he would serve until the end of the war with the Yokosuka AG. Ohara would claim 48 kills and would later serve in the JSDAF.

While flying his Zero, Stresser was credited with 2 SBD-5s and and a F4F-4. Stresser bailed from his Zero after being shot down by AApache of the 412th FNVG.

22:40:32 Shot down a SBD-5 flown by TripWire of {The GunFighters}
22:42:43 Shot down a SBD-5 flown by nk1dog CLAIM JUMPERS
22:43:57 Awarded kill as Joker1 of the 412th FNVG crashes.

After some adjustments following Frame 2, the Axis once again gained more points in the Air than the Allies and the number of kills was relatively close. Unfortunately the Axis lagged in the objects category despite sinking both CVs. The Allied Ace Mission tacked on another 120 points to push the Allies even further ahead.

Well March is in the books, and it appears from some of the comments it was not one of my better setups. I've seen my share of them, that's for sure. I take what criticism I get and use that going forward to continue to develop FSO and other special events, Thanks to all the dedicated participants who make Friday nights their primary experience in Aces High. It's why I do, what I do.

Good luck in April. <S>

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Shifty: you nearly had me jumping my sqaud for conduct un-becomming. They accept volunteers and I assumed that 1 had flown on his own for the other side. Glad I checked 1st.
nk1dog is Claim Jumpers. Stresser is Unforgiven. :salute

This month's set up was great, in my opinion.  :aok
If every FSO set up was a cake walk, why would we play?  :salute

22:42:43 Shot down a SBD-5 flown by nk1dog ~~~THE UNFORGIVEN~~~

Not being critical here just pointing out this pilot is not one of ours. Typo.
<S> to the staff and CiC's for another interesting event.

Nef I think you're being a little hard on yourself. It was a playable setup and produced some decent action. Expecting  them all to be winners is asking too much.

Keep up the good work bud.
