Best browsers
« on: April 07, 2014, 04:16:16 PM »
Looking to try out new browsers to find that works as well as the mainstream ones but doesn't use up a lot of resources and doesn't decide to do things on its own when its not open.

GoogleChrome is a no-go, too much crap installed with it that I don't need and they require...

Palemoon is one I've heard suggested lately.

Any others?
They're casting their bait over there, see?

The only problem with pale moon is that it's not compatible with some websites.

Pale Moon is the best one I have found.
I've been using it since you told about it the first time. As of lately I've noticed two things which I'd like to be explained.

The first one is obviously a bug: PaleMoon lost a great deal of my saved login information. Yes, I know, but the saved ones pose no actual risk. Well, maybe if someone stole them, said someone could impersonate me here. Anyway I could easily get them back from Firefox.

The other one is about my bank saying my browser is not supported, giving a list of supported ones. Now my question is, whether this could only be lack of knowledge by their side or could there be a flaw which could reduce safety? Just for the record to you on the other shore of the pond, we don't actually need dedicated banking browsers due to a more complicated identification system our banks use.

Other than those I've been very happy with PaleMoon. Every incompatibility issue so far has been due to NoScript...

I've got an older system by today's standards that still runs the game well by my standards.

And what benefit would it be for you to know any sites I used? You probably do not use the same banks etc. as I do  :bhead

I tested pale moon for a couple of days, found out it was incompatible with more than one website I needed either for work or personal use and had to ditch it. Never had problems with plain Firefox, IE or Safari. If it works for you (tm) then good for you. I just pointed out that pale moon while being fast, may not work for everyone.

Went to Pale Moon. Fire Fox became a total dog and the others are all problematic somehow.

because it gives us a better understanding of why it doesnt work for you and helps people make an educated choice.  perhaps the problems you have encountered are only related to where you live perhaps it's because you are left handed.

saying things like "it's not compatible with some websites" without giving additional information means nothing.  not a single web browser is compatible with every web site.  but if you share your experiences of which sites is not compatible, wont it help all of us make a more educated choice?

It's enough to know it's not compatible so when whoever tries it finds that something is broken they can suspect the browser before wrecking their OS installation.  :old:

I also now use palemoon as suggested by skuzzy, But I have also had some website that aren't compatible with pale moon as Mr.Ripley has already said. For those websites I will use chrome if need be.
