New Terrain Engine and Bases
« on: April 30, 2014, 01:03:56 AM »
Hello,

From what I had read the resolution of the terrain elevation becomes bigger (which is actually very good for historical terrains).

One thing I noticed when working on geographically accurate terrains is a problem of base placement. Each base should be placed at a strict grid with the resolution of 1 mile.

It would be great if this could be changed the way we can place a base at more fine grained location, i.e. 1/32s of the mile grid. It is especially important for ports and bases located at thing shore strips - so less terrain altering would be required and the bases could be put at more accurate location.

I hope such a restriction wouldn't be hard to remove especially when the engine is being redesigned.
