Side-switching and radar revisited
« on: April 09, 2014, 08:29:22 PM »
One thing I have noticed is the dissatisfaction a lot of players experience with the 12 hour change rule. This doesn't really apply to me as I have so far picked squads that stay solely in one particular country through thick and thin, but I did have this thought:

1) get rid of of the 12 hour time change rule all together. Allow players to switch freely over to countries with significantly lower population levels. I know ENY and perk bonuses are already in place to regulate this but, let's face it, you can't fight green guys...that is generally frowned upon.
2) disable friendly dot locations over the entire country. Make it so friendly country mates are only displayed within a friendly enabled radar ring and above NOE level. Only squad mates and those active on vox/range channels would be displayed regardless of altitude and radar status. Friendly/Enemy dar bar would still function like normal. This would provide some level of security against "speiz" (for those who care) by not allowing all background country members to see the big picture. (E.G. If a friendly mission is NOE, then no player outside of squad/vox/range affiliation will know what is going on to potentially alert his/her friends on the other side of the fence).

Sure there are ways around it for those willing to engage in such methods, but that is my thought for reviving the arena when population levels are skewed.

I must now suffer 40 vulches and wash my mouth out with radiator coolant.

Just trying to think of an application, though I don't care about <insert naughty word>. The main reason I brought this up was to give others the ability to switch for increased fights or be with squaddies. Turning off the overall country dot dar would be compensation for allowing people to switch relatively freely.

Actually it's 100 lashes with the wet noodle. :D

I agree that the 12hr side switch thingy is annoying as spork.  It would be nice if it was cut down to at least 3 hours.  While I am country specific, been flying Rook since I started, there are times when Nits or Bish are going to do something or are doing something that I want in on.  I just don't want to sit on the other side for 12 hrs after it's done. :(

Okay, forget the "speiz" crap. That was sarcasm to begin with. This isn't a whine and I don't care about what extracurricular activities may or may not go on. I only mentioned it in an attempt to give comfort to those who are  :noid and get  :furious over that sort of thing.

Edit:
another post close to rule#3

Eh, didn't review what rule #3 was until after I posted. Assumed you were referring to the "speiz" part. I felt this was unique enough to start a new thread rather than revive a similar, but older topic.

I think the only way to revive the low numbers late at night is to encourage players to stay up.  I know they have jobs and stuff but really more players are needed at night.

-I say if anybody stays up until 4 am then get 100 perks for each and every night if they're in flight and have had 2 successful landings in the past hour.

-for those who dont stay up then it's 5 perks deducted from their account for every night they log off before 4 am.

or another idea would be to double or triple the perks earned let's say between midnight and 4 am.  if anybody gets stuck "in the low side" then they will earn double the bonus given to the other players.

what do you guys think?

Honestly not sure if trolling or if this is a real idea. But I'll still be nice about it.

We all know there are some people who have shade accounts, or a 'best friend' who would allow their friend to kill them over n over. So you would have perk farming on a totally different level, and they wouldn't want combat because that would mess up their perk farming.

I don't think this idea would work, at least not in this form.  Perhaps, if you are outnumbered you don't pay as much for perky planes and earn oodles more perks? However I think that is already in effect  :rofl

Sometimes the low number side is the wrong side to change to....I have done this many times only to find all the red dar that I saw was being made by one side...and you guessed it, the side with low numbers....so I just moved from one stagnant side to an all green dar bar side....now sure I could join the green green guys and roll roll roll...but as may will say because of my thinking I'm selfish but just I don't like to play that game.....when the arena is down to 40 players (when i'm usually on)  and I get stuck by thinking I might get a fight by moving to the low numbered side to find this well.......yeah....Log off, wait it out and hope for the best tomorrow.
