well I was thinking of joining airforce of or navy,  my asvab results made it seem I have options. I went back and was going to be straight foward with the recruiter and told him my arrest record, no felonies but I found out I'm not eligible for AF, navy or the army. Talk about feeling like scum. Wonder if I should of never told them about it, but I figure they would of eventually found out anyways and I didn't want to waste any ones time.

Talk to a lawyer about getting the charges expunged from your record.

Edit:  Yes, they would've eventually found out.  Best to be honest about stuff like that.  Even if you snuck it past them, you'd still have the security clearance background check to deal with...  That could've landed you with fraudulent enlistment, and discharge papers.

My son ran into the same problem.  His dream of being an Air Force pilot were crushed by 10 min of a kid being a kid.  It's tough watching an 18 year olds dreams get shattered by the recruiter.  Twas quite the sad day for all of us.

yup they would have found out.  when I enlisted in the marines they made me pay a $10 ticket that I had gotten 4 years earlier in college for parking without a sticker on first day of school.

Definately honestly is the best policy with an organisation that has the investigative powers of the whole government at their disposal.

Surely it's dependant ont he arrest record, I would surmise that rejection from the military is attached to certain levels of crime, dishonetsy, domestic violence etc
