Town Alerts
« on: May 22, 2014, 07:04:05 AM »
I would like to have radio alerts for towns being bombarded by CV guns. Perhaps another level of depth could be added by adding a radio to towns? Then the alerts would not be sent, but as the radio gets bombed you would receive a message that the radio tower at town ### has gone silent? The idea being that the alarm could be silenced, but that CVs would also not get an automatic cakewalk by flattening fields and towns before the first person launches a sortie..

A cakewalk, a decent SB gunner has the carrier down before the Lvts are feet dry.

The idea of a new objective that must be defeated before attacking town, isn't that tantamount to another SB?
They're casting their bait over there, see?

A base and/or it's town being shelled, one would think that is something that would warrant an alarm. :aok +1

If something is done to make CV's more defensive... At the moment the fight rarely lasts more than 5 minutes. CV sunk, now have to go looking around for/start a fight somehow.

How about getting rid of so many SBs instead? This wish will destroy CV's even quicker...

I don't care about base takes much anymore, sure I will participate, but if we/they get it, OK...show me the ftr fight, that's what originally drew me to AH and that's about all I want anymore. These days I ask fellows why they are killing the CV, sometimes it's the only game in town.  <-- not a pun.

The only thing that needs to be done to make them last longer is to play the game.

The issue is you'll have someone drive it as close as they can an gun down as much of the town as possible without getting caught. Then the race is on to get troops in BEFORE the defenders can sink the CV.

What should happen is you shell from long range. Bomb the shore batteries either with high alt buffs or heavy fighters from the CV. Gunners man the guns to drop in coming bombers, and a Capture actually drives the boat calling out maneuvers to warn players launching, and navigating in a way to keep the most possible guns on the target while keeping the ships safe.

I have been lucky to be a part of the later attacks a number of times and battles lasted for hours. Many attackers, many defenders and multiple bases were captured each time. Both sides had lots of kills and lots of deaths, but most importantly both side had a BLAST!!!

Today players just go to the quickest easiest way to grab the bases. Strategy, and using more than the same old bomb trucks to lawndart all over the base never enters their minds. Game play suffers, players get bored, and leave looking for more "fun" games.

Id love to see some kind of warning to help spot CV's sneaking in on a base. Not that I have much hope that they will turn into one of those epic fights, but there is always that chance.

Just remind the "uber" fighter pilots (that use chogs to HO and run to their CVs?) that they need to actually fly CAP to protect the CV instead of their score. Usually bombers are better targets than the lower fighters. Hard concept to grasp I know.

I like it. It would encourage a fight.

1 fight to protect the CV and 1 to take the town. then vice versa for the base defenders.

Well that's of course said the people sneaking the base actually do so correctly, which can on a bad week or even month can be difficult; depending on the company the country has on. Honestly 1 guy looking at the map with a glance every now and then (or constantly staring) on the screen looking every which place can spot a base flashing for 1 minute and say to himself "Uhhh Ha I have found a carrier trying to sneak a base" he/she checks it out and Bobs your uncle Marys your aunt and the carrier dies after he calls it out on country.

Just trying to add some debate(and humourr) to this...I like the idea though. Maybe making some system where the base flashes if a carrier gets super close to a base.

And then the carrier is beached on shallow water defenses, and the cv group hits a bunch of mines as it tries to extricate itself :old:
