Bomber statitsics
« on: May 01, 2014, 06:56:58 AM »
Gents,

I am looking at my squad bomber scores and statistics for the LW tour, and there is a category I don't understand. We really suck in as category called "Damage Hit Percentage", and I am wondering how to improve this score. Does anyone know how this is measured? Is it like a "damage per bomb" kind of thing?

Thanks,

Dallas

Yes. The more stuff you hit per bomb, the higher the % get. Milking town centers with 4k bombs has maximum effect. Which is why actual bombing precision has about nothing to do with it.

A bomber pilot which does a lot of tactical work, (precisely killing ammo bunkers, dars hangars), or will do a very load efficient attack with 100lbs bombs on the City will automatically "suck" in his bomber damage % category compared to one just milking town centers. This tour I have done exactly the latter only, and my hit% increased by a tenfold  :lol

IMHO, the bomber category is the most meaningless of them all. Especially as also the damage score points are not directly related to the amount of damage you do, but again by the size of the bomb you are dropping. Larger bombs do get you much more score for the same object destroyed.

Snail,

I've seen fellows hold a low bomber rank through the month, yet have but one sortie.  How do they do that?

These are the guys who take a Mossi B Mk XVI and drop the 4000lb HC "cookie" bomb on a town center.  They get maximum effect.  If a player can do this just a handful of times they get a very low ranking.  However, it does nothing to show a players "skill" and it certainly does not help the big picture.  The bomber score/rank is the most meaningless of the three.

HTC would do justice to the ranking system if they merged the perk earnings and their current ranking system.  It isn't right that a player who consistently takes up a more challenging plane (109F/G, Spit5, P47x, etc) vs an easy mode plane (La7, Spit16, etc) and earns the exact same kill/death/sorte'/etc and get the same rank.  Someone in a 109G-2 needs to work a whole lot harder to get the same results vs if they were in a Spit16 or La7.  Likewise, someone completing a bomber run in He111's or Bostons should earn more "rank" than someone in B26's or Mossi B Mk XVI's.  They already earn more perks, but there is a whole lot more to the picture.

Could could provide an example for that? Especially for defining what a "low rank" means in this context...

Because getting a really low rank (<100) is impossible with only one sortie in Late War. If anything you would need at least two, one town milking sortie and one successful goon base capture to have any hope for that.

See my current bomber rank:

This tour I was exclusively milking towns for a change, 9 missions with 22 sorties in Mossie and B-29

The resulting bomber rank is still 'only' 91, and it's obvious why: The lack of base captures. Remember, #1 bomber pilot is the one with the lowest sum of all sub category ranks. To really push my ranking I would to have to fly a few goon sorties.

Thanks very much for the info. I think we might have to settle for not being #1, given that we are not prone to making milk runs.

GVs in the grass = bad for hit% for bombs. Carpet bombing a spawn point hurts your bomber score in all categories save 1, captures.
I say this hesitantly because killing Lancs with an Osti at 2 to 3K before they get to drop has been berry berry good to me.
