I think some of the problem is, recently by newer players, a lot of requests for objects are being asked for that allow players to attack things that really won't bite you in any significant way. An example is the strat being distributed now. You can up and knock the strat down to 0%. Then loiter around and kill the train all night long with no pesky red guys to slam your face into the dirt and ouchie your ego.

It's funny how so few wishes are for Hitech to make it easier to get back at the red guys faster after you are shot down. Something like making all airfields 1\2 sector apart. They seem more about asking for ways to avoid the red guys all night long.

Strange thing how a request for simple Ship Object converted to complex AI things...

I'm rather talking about Special Events were you can sink a simple merchant ship that isn't destroyer, cruiser or carrier...

This is why I think it would be worth it to place a light carrier or two in with the convoy to give players a chance to defend the convoy if attacked.  If nobody launches to defend said convoy, then oh well.  How often do people take airfields completely un contested?  There is nothing HiTech can implement to force people to fight.

the funny thing is the liberty ship I took a tour of had a 5" on the stern, a 2 or 3"(?) on the front, 40mm, and 20mm's all over the place. I think they are underestimating merchant ships. their tbm is still going to get wasted. perhaps they should stick to the port barges.. they don't shoot back at all  :)

Slow moving convoys would give subs something to attack when they're added (as subs are not likely to ever be able to catch the current fast moving task forces).

HT said in another thread somewhere he wanted to add supply convoys.

And yes, my father was a 20mm gunner on a merchant ship in WWII after his stint in the infantry.  They do bite back.  It was U-boats that were the worry but HT has said he wants to add those too one day.

Would the subs be like CV groups, and have their path controlled by players, or like PT boats that are fully controlled by a player?
